Silex Films

Founded in 2009 by Priscilla Bertin and Judith Nora, SILEX FILMS is an independent production company dedicated to developing and producing films and series in live action and animation. Its slate spans drama, comedy and documentary, across all formats and for audiences of all ages, from children and young adults to adults. Driven by a strong artistic vision, SILEX champions original storytelling and distinctive creative voices, with a particular commitment to emerging female filmmakers.

In 2014, the company expanded its activities with the launch of SILEX ANIMATION, establishing studios in Angoulême and Paris.

SILEX’s work has earned several industry accolades, including the 2020 Procirep Award for Best Television Producer in Animation and the 2024 Trophée du Film Français for Animation, presented during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

Among its recent productions, In Waves, a 2D/3D animated feature directed by Phuong Mai Nguyen and adapted from the acclaimed graphic novel by American author AJ Dungo, premiered as the opening film of Cannes Critics’ Week in 2026. Following screenings at Annecy, Toronto and Busan, the film has been selected by more than 30 festivals worldwide. Released theatrically in France on July 1, 2026, it was acquired by Netflix for worldwide distribution outside France and will be available to stream from December 11, 2026.

SILEX also produced The Legends of Paris, A Tale of the 19th-Century Artistic Scene, a four-part series directed by Amélie Harrault and co-produced with ARTE. Its recent short-film productions include Sisters’ Swim, directed by Lola Degove, selected for the official competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, pre-acquired by ARTE and selected by more than 40 festivals to date, and As the Crow Flies, a documentary directed by Clara Lacombe. Both films have been shortlisted for the 2027 César Awards.

The company’s catalogue also features Brazen, a series of 30 three-minute episodes adapted from Pénélope Bagieu’s bestselling, Eisner Award-winning graphic novels. It offers portraits of 30 women, some well-known and others less so, who wrote their own destinies and set out to tear down prejudice; and The MiniWhats, a children’s series comprising 52 seven-minute episodes, based on the books by Laurent Rivelaygue and Olivier Tallec.

SILEX continues to develop ambitious, visually distinctive projects for both the big screen and television, bringing together bold artistic visions, original storytelling and singular creative voices.
