Introduced in 2008 by the Irish government, the tax incentive, Section 481 for film and television production has dramatically improved Ireland's competititve position in the industry ensuring production of local content and attracting international co-production partners. Gerard O'Rourke CEO of Monster Animation and Design will present the scheme based on case studies.

The global media landscape has changed beyond recognition meaning that TV doesn't have the window exclusivity for kids' content anymore. How are broadcasters adapting to competition from non-linear and digital television, how are they creating new audience relationships using the new media, how does this affect their commissioning strategies, budgets, programmes and formats? Four public and private broadcasters will openly discuss children's evolving television, trends and innovative moves to remain central to kids' viewing.

Many productions require both gap and cashflow security. Media lending banks and institutions require terms and conditions from the producers in order to tlimit the risk. Christophe Vidal of Natixis Coficiné and Guillaume de Chalendar of Bank Leumi will explain how they can help producers achieve their objectives and the conditions they need to meet. Marc du Pontavice as Chairman and CEO of Xilam will talk about the reality of applying such funding with the help of case studies.

Animation producers and publishers are seeking mutual inspiration around books and characters that increasingly come to a life of their own not only in animation series but also in other new media. Helen McAleer, Managing Director of Walker Books has already co-produced 2 animation series and since 2007 runs Walker Productions which aims to develop character and stories in other media. She will detail her company's strategy with animation producers and with John Rice, CEO of Jam Media talk of the adaptation of "Tilly and Friends", a series made for Cbeebies.

New market routes have emerged for brands which can now originate from TV but also books, toys, video games, web series, social gaming, applications… A distribution major and 2 smaller independent distributors will assess these new marketplace opportunities in relation to animation series, consumer products and new business models.

This new tax credit scheme which will apply to TV series should be operational next April 2013. Kerry Lock, Financial Director at Aardman and a main supporter of the scheme will introduce the main items, still being discussed at government level, and explain how British animation producers succeeded in persuading their authorities of the economic relevance of such a scheme.

As production companies increasingly tend to incorporate both models, they are also adopting new business models for monetization on the new media.
