The animation has laid siege to Girona
On occasion of the 18th Cartoon Forum, the Cinema Museum of Girona has inaugurated “The cinema, a great toy as well”, an exhibition of the first cartoon projectors for children.
In the first decades of the 20th Century, animation cinema conquered European homes through children cinema gadgets like Cine NIC, a cartoon projector invented in 1931 in Barcelona by the Nicolau brothers. Since then, animation movies have become the favourite game for several generations of children until the arrival of television.
This exhibition, which uses materials of the Cinema Museum, gives the visitors a chance to discover a world of fantasy that for decades turned the cinema into a great toy as well. The exhibition runs until February 3, 2008.
